Chaos: When The Extras Become The Main Thing

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace...1 Corinthians 14:33
Our days can get crazy in our home - if I let them. There are the daily tasks of running a home. Then, there is properly caring for, shaping, and molding the children. Add to that homeschooling. That is quite enough to fill our days. But, then....we add those extras. The lessons, the playgroups, the classes, the volunteering, the “me” time, the writing, the blogging, the social media.... Pretty soon, the “extras” are becoming the “main thing”. That’s when things get crazy. Wait a minute..aren’t we supposed to do the “extras”? Aren’t they supposed to make us better people? Can we make it in society without them? Let’s see...without all the “extras”, there is peace in my home. When the “extras” take over, there is chaos. Hmmm.... Not a hard choice. Or is it?How To Keep The Extras From Taking Over
I love some of the extras. They can be fun and rewarding. Others can really get in the way of what is most important. How can we decide which is which? How do we keep the extras from taking over our lives and making us crazy? Think about each lesson, volunteer opportunity, committee, and other extras you are part of. Pray about them. Which give you peace? Which are adding something to your lives and the lives of others? Try and unplug the computer a day. Say “no” the next time someone asks you to volunteer. Tell your kids and their instructor that you don’t think those lessons are really fitting into your lives right now. It’s hard.Seek The Main Thing
